Quiet Light is the latest artist featured on NME’s The Cover, with a new profile and exclusive photo shoot released ahead of her performance at Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields festival on Saturday, August 29, according to NME.
The American electronic-ambient-folk artist, whose real name is Riya Mahesh, also put together a playlist to accompany the feature. Titled “I’m In Love With You,” it includes songs by Imogen Heap, Mazzy Star, Shania Twain, The Blue Nile, Lana Del Rey, Lorde and more.
Mahesh told NME that she has spent years making music while also working in medicine, and said she is trying to take her career one step at a time. She added that music has always been a constant in her life, whether or not it becomes her full-time job.
In the interview, she also discussed artists who influenced her, including Clairo, and praised Rodrigo as a role model for young women. She noted that Daisy Chain Fields is an all-women festival raising money for charities that support women and girls.
