Hoda Kotb says she has reconnected with a mystery man she first met by chance on a flight, according to E! News. The former Today co-anchor told Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones on the Aug. 21 episode of Today With Jenna & Sheinelle that the encounter was an unusual and emotional one.
Kotb described the moment as “the weirdest connection in the world,” saying both of them were crying during the exchange. She said it did not feel like a true love connection at the time, but the two still opened up to each other during the conversation.
After they went their separate ways, Kotb said the story continued. She later saw the man again when Joy 101 went to Cannes, where he happened to be in the audience and briefly greeted her.
More recently, Kotb said they have texted again. She also noted that the man is single, while making clear she is focused on relationships in her life more broadly, including her daughters Haley and Hope.
