Dolly Parton has shared an update on her health as she continues to deal with issues that surfaced after the death of her husband, Carl Dean, according to NME.
Parton told People on Friday that she is still recovering, explaining that she had not paid enough attention to some of her own health concerns while caring for Dean. She said she has faced health struggles before, including a period in the early 1980s when she was ill for several months.
The country star also said that the pace of modern social media can make rumors and updates spread quickly. Even so, she said, “I’m still healin’, I’m still workin’.”
Her update comes after she postponed and then canceled her planned Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Parton said she had been dealing with several health challenges and would not have enough time to complete rehearsals.
Parton said her current issues include kidney stones, as well as problems with her immune and digestive systems. She also said she is working with companies on “avatar performances” and hopes to create new experiences for fans.
